Editor's Note: On September 2018, the first issue of Jewels Herald came off the press. We tried to see what was on its pages and were surprised to find that one pupil wrote about teachers. Two young writers then, Junica Marich Brillo and Thim Louise Monroid are now in college, while Arianne Maidol is in Grade 11. We repost what they had written eight years ago.
Teachers: by Junica Marich Brillo
Teachers are like rubber bands
They are different kinds
They have a kind heart
And we can’t take it apart
Teachers are the best
Teachers are the coolest
And by their side
We never cried
I know our teachers truly care
They don’t judge or compare
Remember, teachers are our second mother
We love our teacher
I swear!

Always There: by Arianne Maidol
A true voice of grace
Hand of encouragement you place
Always there, with a smile
The laughter, we escape, for a while
Your friendship allows me
To be a better me.

Sky: by Thim Louise Monroid
Every time I look at the sky
I see the birds fly
In the grassy meadow I lie
I look up in the sky
Where clouds roll by
And the sun shines bright.
During the spring season the rain is in prison
Which keeps the sky dark and cloudy
How I thank You, God Almighty
For making the sky that makes us happy
The world will not be in beauty.
If the sky is empty
But the world will be pretty
If there is the sun, the clouds, the moon, and the stars
That always makes you smile
However far, however close
Even from a million miles away.
